The awards ceremony by the main black culture channel BET Music Awards 2019 was held in Los Angeles on 23. June 2019.
That day Rihanna, Cardi B, Lil Nas X, City Girls, Mary J. Blige and many more artists involved in musical industry rose on the stage.

The year 2019 marked one more innovation in hip-hop. It was a merger of country music and rap. Even with only one hit The Old Town Road rapper Lil Nas X elevated himself to the top of the charts.
Together with country artist Billy Ray Cyrus, he enters the stage which looks like a saloon from the wild west to perform his new hit song Old Town Road.
Before that, the video had been shown to the viewers which artists rode their horses in. All in the best traditions.
The performance itself is to be remembered with theme decorations in the wild west style and breathtaking choreography.
Cardi B & Offset perform “Clout” & “Press” at BET Awards 2019
A former stripper and nowadays soared to the first lines of the charts rap artist Cardi B honoured BET Awards 2019 with her revealing dress in pair with her husband Offset. They performed song Clout together, and after that Cardi B spit her new track called Press.
Moreover, Cardi B received Album of the Year Award, bypassing other nominees: Travis Scott “Astro World”, Meek Mill “Championships”, Ella Mai “Ella Mai”, The Carters “Everything is Love”.
Cardi B noted in her playful speech that her album became platinum 3 times, so the award was expected.
Lauren London, Angelique Smith & Nipsey Hussle’s family get Humanitarian Award
This year the hip-hop industry was shocked by the news of 31. March 2019. Californian rapper Nipsey Hussle was shot near his store right in his neighbourhood.
Nipsey Hussle’s family was awarded Humanitarian Award posthumously at the past BET Awards 2019 ceremony. The first word was given to Nipsey Hussle’s grandmother. She noted that a lot had been said already and added: “Nipsey, you’ve done your job. You’ve left your mark”.
Lauren London, Nipsey Hussle’s girl, was laconic: “Thank you, guys, for all your love and support. The marathon continues again”. (“The Marathon Continues” is a name of Nipsey Hussle’s mixtape which is released in 2011 on his own record label Hussle All Money In)
Mother of Nipsey Hussle broke out with spiritual speech which could be not clear for everyone. All in all, she treated his death with understanding. She hadn’t been sleeping for several weeks before his death. It was expected for her.
Nipsey Hussle’s father was laconic: “I wish my son was here to get the award. I appreciate all the fans. He wanted to be here so badly. And last year he made it to perform here. We were so happy for him.”. Он также заончил свою речь словами “The Marathon Continues”.
Obviously, parents of Nipsey don’t get on with each other well. You can say it after the phrase “Just do your thing, please”.
T.I. also made a speech in honour of Nipsey Hussle. Nipsey was a big inspiration for a lot of people. His life was short, but his legacy is here to stay forever.

Mary J Blige performance at BET Awards 2019
Mary J Blige did one of the most bright performances of that night. It started with the introduction by P. Diddy and continued with the classic songs My Life”, “You Remind Me” and “I’m Going Down.”
Lil Kim joined Mary J Blige during the process. And then also Method Man came in to perform Wu-Tang vibe “You’re All I Need”.
All in all 20 minutes performance interlaced old school choreography, 90s hip-hop and of course flawless R’n’B vocal of Mary J Blige.
Right before the performance, Rihanna had announced about handing over BET Lifetime Achievement Award to Mary J Blige. In her speech, she also mentioned her style innovation, and also other big achievements. She was in particular nominated for an Oscar in the acting and music category in the same year.
Rihanna also gave thanks to Mary J Blige that she put her soul into every track and opened the door for all the new female artists.
